Editing your site in the builder
Click anything in the live preview to change it — text, photos, buttons and sections — with automatic draft saving and nothing going live until you publish.
What You’ll Learn
You'll learn how to open the builder and edit anything on your site by clicking it in the live preview. We'll cover the section list, switching optional sections on and off without losing content, adding extra sections, and how drafts, Reset draft and Publish keep your live site safe while you experiment.
The builder is where you change what your site says and shows — your headline, your photos, your buttons, your sections. You don't need any technical knowledge to use it.
To open it, go to your Home screen and click Open builder, or use the Builder link in the sidebar.
Click anything to edit it
The easiest way to edit your site is to simply click (or tap) the thing you want to change in the live preview. Click your headline and the headline editor opens with that exact field highlighted, ready to type. Click a photo and the photo editor opens. Click a button and you can change its label.
You don't need to hunt through menus to find where something lives — the preview is the menu.
The section list
On a computer, the left-hand panel shows your site as a list of section cards. Navbar sits at the top, followed by your page sections — things like Hero, About, Gallery, Location & map and Footer, depending on your site — and then "Extra sections" at the bottom. One card opens at a time, so you're never staring at a wall of settings.
Some sections are optional and have an on/off switch. Turning a section off doesn't delete anything — your words and photos are kept, and they come straight back when you switch it on again. So you can hide your gallery for a while without losing a single photo.
Adding extra sections
Under "Extra sections" there's an Add button. It opens a picker with live mini-previews of each section you can add: Testimonials, About, Gallery (in three styles), Media feature, Request form, FAQ and Referrals.
Pick one and it's added to your page, ready to fill in. If you change your mind, each extra section has a bin icon to remove it.
What you can edit — and what lives elsewhere
Inside each section you'll find text boxes, photo uploads (drag a photo in or click to choose one), and photo galleries that hold up to 8 images in a slideshow. Some sections also let you choose between a photo, a slideshow or a video — videos can be up to 30MB.
A few things can't be edited in the builder on purpose: your business name, logo, phone number, email, address, opening hours and links. These are shared details that appear in several places across your site, so you change them once and they update everywhere. If you click one in the preview, you'll see a note pointing you to Site Settings or the Home screen's Quick Edits. See Site Settings explained for where each of those lives.
Saving and publishing
You don't need to save. Everything you do in the builder is saved automatically as a private draft while you type — close the browser mid-edit and your work will be there when you come back.
Nothing your customers see changes until you click Publish. That means you can experiment freely: rewrite your About text three times, try a different hero photo, and only push it live when you're happy. Read more in Publish your site.
Made a mess of things? Click Reset draft and everything returns to the last published version, like it never happened.
Editing on your phone
The builder works just as well on a phone — same power, different layout. The preview fills your screen, with a toolbar underneath: Back, Sections, Reset, Preview and Publish. Tap anything in the preview and its editor slides up from the bottom.
That makes it easy to fix a typo or swap a photo from wherever you are, without waiting until you're back at a computer.
On a computer, there's also a viewport toggle so you can see exactly how your site looks on a phone versus a computer before you publish — worth a quick check, since most of your visitors will be on their phones.
