Keep your site synced with Google
Change your hours on Google, press one button, and your website matches — plus an auto-sync switch that keeps your rating fresh without you thinking about it.
What You’ll Learn
You'll learn where the Google Business Profile card lives in Site Settings, what pressing Sync with Google checks and updates, and how the Changes from Google comparison lets you review everything before applying. You'll also see what syncing deliberately leaves alone, and how the auto-sync switch keeps things fresh automatically.
If you set your site up from your Google Business Profile listing when you signed up, FastPage can keep the two in step. Change your opening hours on Google — say for public holidays — press one button, and your website matches. One source of truth, and no forgotten update sitting on your own site embarrassing you.
This guide covers what syncing updates, what it deliberately leaves alone, and how to let it run automatically.
Where to find it
Go to Site Settings → General. If your site is connected to a Google listing, you'll see a Google Business Profile card with a Sync with Google button.
If the card isn't there, your site wasn't connected to a Google listing when it was created — that's normal, not broken. At the moment, connecting happens during signup.
What syncing checks
Syncing looks at two things on your Google listing:
- Your opening hours — so a change on Google can flow through to your site
- Your Google rating and review count — many site designs can show your rating near the top of your site, and syncing keeps that number fresh
When you press Sync with Google, FastPage fetches the latest from your listing and shows you a "Changes from Google" comparison — your current opening hours next to Google's version, and your rating before and after. Nothing changes until you press Apply. If you'd rather not, press Cancel and everything stays as it was.
If nothing differs, you'll simply see "You're up to date."
What syncing never touches
Some things are deliberately left alone:
- Your phone number
- Your address
- Your photos
- The text of your reviews
Those stay exactly as you've written and arranged them on your site. So if you've tidied up your address wording or curated your photos, a sync will never undo your personal touches. It only ever offers to update hours and refresh your rating.
Letting it run automatically
On the same card there's an Auto-sync switch. With it on, FastPage checks Google roughly every two weeks and keeps your rating fresh without you doing anything.
Auto-sync will also update your opening hours automatically — but only if you've never hand-adjusted them on your site. If you have, your version wins, and auto-sync won't overwrite it. When you do want to pull Google's hours back in after hand-editing, use the manual Sync with Google button and review the comparison yourself.
A couple of small things to know
There's a short pause between manual syncs. If you press the button twice in quick succession, it shows a brief "Wait" countdown — that's just a cooldown, not a problem. Try again in a minute.
And a practical habit worth forming: when your hours change — holiday trading, a new closing day, summer hours — update them on Google first, then press Sync. Google is where most people check, and this way your website never lags behind.
Your opening hours, address, and other business details all live in Site Settings alongside this card — there's a full tour in Site Settings explained. And since your Google listing and your website work together when people search for you, it's worth a look at helping your site show up on Google too.
