What You’ll Learn

You'll learn how to set up the event announcement from the Events tile — name, date, time and visibility — and how to add an optional Book now button that sends visitors to your booking form with the event's date already filled in. You'll also learn how to personalise the card's colour and icon, and what happens automatically once the event date passes.

When you've got something coming up — a tasting night, a workshop, a sale, an open day — the event announcement puts it front and centre. It's a card that appears at the top of your site advertising one upcoming event. On some designs it shows as a slim ribbon across the very top instead; either way, it's automatic — you just fill in the details.

It's built for one event at a time. Think of it as a spotlight, not a calendar: whatever matters most right now, up where every visitor sees it.

Setting up your event

From the Home screen, open Quick Edits and tap the Events tile. The tile always tells you where things stand — it shows your current event's name, "Event expired", or "Advertise your next event" if nothing is set.

Inside the editor you'll find:

  • A Visible switch — turn the whole announcement on or off.
  • Event name — up to 120 characters. Keep it short and specific.
  • A date picker for when it's happening.
  • A time picker — if you don't choose a time, it defaults to All day.
  • Clear event — removes the event entirely when you're done with it.

Adding a Book now button

If your site has a booking or enquiry form, you can add a button to the announcement that takes visitors straight to it — with the event's date (and time, if you set one) already filled in. One less thing for your customer to type, and fewer bookings for the wrong day.

Pick which form the button goes to, then set the button label — up to 40 characters, so "Book now", "Reserve a spot" or "Register" all fit. If you'd rather show the announcement without a button, just clear the label and it disappears.

This option is unavailable until your site has a booking or enquiry form. Once bookings start coming in, see managing booking requests for what happens next.

Making it match your business

Under Appearance you can personalise the card:

  • An accent colour — eight presets (Gold, Rose, Sage, Sky, Plum, Amber, Crimson, Slate) or a custom colour of your own.
  • An icon, picked from a set of 20 covering music, food, drinks and celebration themes.

A small touch, but it helps the announcement feel like part of your site rather than a sticker on top of it.

What happens when the event passes

Nothing embarrassing, is the short answer. Once the event date has passed, the card hides itself from your site automatically — no visitor will ever see you advertising last month's event.

In your editor, the event shows an "Expired" tag so you know why it's no longer visible. Update the date for your next event, or use Clear event to remove it. Either way, your public site stays tidy without you having to remember.

When the announcement shows

The card appears on your site only when everything's in place. It hides itself when any of these are true:

  • The Visible switch is off.
  • There's no event name.
  • There's no date.
  • The date has passed.
  • The Book now button points at a form that no longer exists on your site.

You don't need to memorise this — the editor has a "When this shows" note listing the same conditions, so if the card isn't appearing, that note will tell you why.

Saving your changes

Tap Save on a computer or Done on a phone, and the change is live on your site immediately — there's no Publish step. Dismissing the editor without saving discards your changes.

The event announcement is for a specific, dated occasion. For a general message — holiday hours, "closed for renovations", a new opening time — use the header banner instead; see the header banner guide. The two work independently, so you can run both at once.
